KEBO EDAN TEMPLE

Kebo Edan Temple.
Not so far from Penataran Sasih Temple, on the right side of the road, there is a temple called Pura Kebo Edan (crazy - buffalo - temple). Here and an ancient stone statue is kept beside a lot of others collected from surrounding villages and ricefields. The biggest statue is giant about 3,60 meters high. The local said that statue represents Bima, the second brother of Pandawa (the famous Hindu's Story from India of Mahabrata) and it is believed to be the manifestation figure of God Siwa (the one of three God called Tri Murti / three function of God are God Brahma as creator, God Wisnu as protector and God Siwa as destroyer). This ace Hindu's script is believed as a process of world life.

This statue has a mask on its face and it has four penises. It can't be dated exactly but it is known that the last king who held a ceremony here was King Sri Antasura Ratna Bumi Banten on the 14th century
